Shopping around Sendai Station - Miyagi, Japan


Sendai is the central of Tohoku region, located Northeast of Japan. Sendai is lively city, has long history and convenient for transportation. It takes 1 hour and 30 minutes from Tokyo to Sendai by Shinkansen. I already provided the information about access to Sendai, click here to read my previous post

Sendai is good for sightseeing in every seasons and has the main events which are Sendai Tanabata and Sendai Pageant of Starlight. Tanabata is the event held in 7 July but Sendai Tanabata is one of three major events of Tohoku which is held in August. Sendai Pageant of Starlight is the winter event, related to the illumination. 




Sendai Station is the busy station and good for shopping. The Travel Service Center is on the 2nd floor. If you do the online seat reservation, you can pick up the ticket here as well. After get off the Shinkansen gate or pass Ticket Office (3rd Floor), take the escalator down and turn right (follow the sign). You can also pick up the map and brochure.

S-PAL; a shopping mall connects to JR Sendai Station or 2 minutes walk from South Exit of Sendai City Subway's Sendai Station. The malls has restaurants, cosmetics shops and fashion clothes.

The west exit of Sendai Station is the gate to shopping centre and sightseeing spots. You can take the bus, subway or walking. I chose walking. I walked to the left side first. I went to Matsumoto Kiyoshi to buy some cosmetics. Short walk from Matsumoto Kiyoshi to EBeans.




EBeans is close to PARCO 2. I went to EBeans because I would like to visit GU Shop (sister company of Uniqlo which sells casual wear in reasonable price.

200 m. walk from EBeans to Yamada Denki (Labi) which sells electronic products. I did not buy electronic products so I skipped it. You can see "Loft" in the opposite side of Yamada Denki. You can find the cute accessories, stationaries and etc. 


PARCO is located north of JR Sendai Station. There are variety shops in the building. Mostly, the shops sell fashion clothes and has some restaurants.

PARCO has walking path to AER. AER is the tall building and has observation deck on 31st floor. It's free admission, opens 10:00-20:00. You can find Uniqlo shop here.

Go to the opposite side of AER, you will be at Hapina Nakakecho. Walk to the end of this road, you will see Don Quijote. You can use digital coupon to get the discount. Cannot use the snapshot photo. Show to the coupon to cashier and they will click the confirm button.

Cross the road to Clis Road. You can find Daiso Shop, Tsuruha Drug, Daikoku Drug, Daiei (Supermarket), ABC Mart, Cafe, restaurants and etc. End of Clis Road, cross the road to Marble Road Omachi which is also a shopping street. 

These are all I visit. If you have time, there are still have other shops / stores e.g. Aeon Sendai Store, Fujisaki, Morning Market. You may walk from Sendai Station and take the subway back to the station.
