One Day Trip in Guangzhou, China (Day1)

The last time I visited China it was over 15 years. I used to go to Beijing and Kunming. Due to the visa exemption, I travelled to Guangzhou, China with my family. Guangzhou is the large city in Southern China. Travelling in Guangzhou is not difficult. Many attractions can access by subway and the fare starts at 2 CNY. This trip I travelled with my parents so mostly I reserved the car charter service and sometimes I travelled alone by subway.

The payment methods in Guangzhou are cash, credit card, debit card, alipay, wechatpay.  Mostly, I used alipay and truemoney (Thailand). When I exchanged the money in Thailand, mostly I received 100 banknote. Some shops might not have a change. However, I used both cash and cashless.

I bought travel sim card from Thailand so I could use LINE application. As you know Google, Youtube, LINE are prohibited in China so I used Wechat to communicate with chauffeur. I booked private car charter from Klook. You can choose 4 hours / 5 hours or 8 hours and select your preferred language. I chose Chinese driver because of cheaper price. I was not good at Chinese but wechat application can translate the language automatically. Another useful application is AMAP. You can look at the map in English and easy to use.

I booked private car for 8 hours (100 kilometer). You could design your own itinerary but overtime is 50 CNY per hour, overtime is 3 CNY per kilometer. No guide and lunch were included. Parking fee was also excluded. The license plate was informed in private messade on Klook one day before travel date. The chauffeur picked up me at the hotel so I waited at the hotel's lobby 10 minutes before time.

My Itinerary

1. Huacheng Square

2. Yuexiu Park

3. Chen Clan Academy

4. Yongqingfang

5. Guangzhou Sacred Heart Cathedral

First, I travelled to Huacheng Square in the morning so the shops and restaurants were not opened but the weather was fresh and cold. Many people excercised. I went for a walk around 30 minutes. The toilets were available on both side of Huacheng Square. From here I could see Canton Tower clearly.

Not far from Huacheng Square, I went to Yuexiu Park which is the large park located in downtown area. No entrance fee. The landmark is The Five Rams Statue. It was really big park and also busy. My parents said that they could not climb and walked too far so I did not visit The Five Rams Statue.

If you take subway, get off at the stop of Yue Xiu Gong Yuan (Yuexiu Park) (line 2), exit A
