Upopoi / Upopoy The National Ainu Museum and Park is national center for the revival and development of Ainu culture, will open on 29th May 2020. Upopoy is an Ainu term meaning “singing in a large group.” The National Ainu Museum will become the first national museum in Hokkaido and the northernmost national museum in Japan. The National Ainu Park is an open-air museum where visitors can experience various elements of Ainu culture. The museum is located in Hokkaido, Japan. As the museum has not been opened yet, I provide roughly information about it including bus timetable.

From Footbath Entrance ・ Noboribetsu Onsen 720 yen
From New Chitose Airport 850 yen
From Sapporo Station 1,680 yen

Shiraoi Station is on the way from New Chitose Airport to Noboribetsu. It takes 30 minutes from Shiraoi to Noboribetsu by train.

24 April - 19 July 2020:  Weekdays 09:00-18:00, Weekends and Public Holidays: 09:00-20:00

20 July 2020 - 31 August 2020: 09:00-20:00

1 September - 31 October 2020: Weekdays 09:00-18:00, Weekends and Public Holidays: 09:00-20:00

1 November 2020 - 31 March 2021: 09:00-17:00


Closed: Mondays (or a business day on or after Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday) and the year-end and New Year's holidays (29 December - 3 January)


Admission Fee

Adult (general) 1,200 yen

Adult (group of 20 or more) 960 yen
High school students (general) 600 yen
High school student (group) 480 yen
Junior high school students and below free

You can purchase the ticket in advance on website (only Japanese language).
