Attractions by Subway / JR (Part 2) - Osaka, Japan

Travel by subway or JR is the easy way for sightseeing in Osaka, Japan. Many attractions are located near railway. If you travel to many sightseeing places, one day pass or other pass  can save your travel cost. Here are previous reviews about pass:

Osaka Subway, JR Map

Ebisucho & Nippombashi Station

Den Den Town

Den Den Town is similar to Akihabara in Tokyo but this is located in Osaka. It is popular for electronic products and manga & anime, toys lovers.

Shops Opening Hours: 10:00-20:00

- Ebisucho Station, Exit North 1B (Subway Sakaisuji Line), walk 2 minutes.
- Nippombashi Station, Exit no.5 (Kintetsu Line and Subway Sakaisuji Line, Sennichimae Line), walk 5 minutes.

Nippombashi Station

Namba Walk

Namba Walk is underground shopping between Namba Station and Nippombashi Station.
You can go to either Namba Station or Nippombashi Station. There are a lot of stores such as clothes, bags, shoes, food (includes bento), bakery and etc.

Shop Hours: Fashion, Variety, Food: 10:00-21:00 Gourmet: 10:00-22:00

Tsuruhashi Station

Miyuki Road  also known as Osaka Korea Town which has many small shops selling ingredients, food, clothes, shoes, CD & DVD and etc.

Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome Station

Osaka Museum of Housing and Living is a place where simulate the buildings and street in the past of Osaka. The house shows the way how people lived. You can rent yukata, including slipper and bag for 30 minutes. You can take socks to your home.


Tenjibashisuji 6-chome Exit 3 (Tanimachi or Sakisuji Subway Line)

Tenjinbashisuji Shotengai

Tenjinbashisuji Shotengai is long shopping street (more than 2 kms.) in Osaka, Japan. 
It is located near Osaka Museum of Housing and Living. There are many shops such as clothes, shoes, books and restaurants.

- JR Temma Station - Minamimorimachi Station

Tanimachi 4-chome station

Osaka Museum of History

Osaka Museum of History is located next to NHK Osaka and near Osaka Castle. This museum is interesting and well organized. There are permanent and special exhibitions.

Opening Hours: 9:30 to 17:00 (until 20:00 on Fridays)
Closed: Tuesday (or following day if Tuesday is a national holiday) December 28 to January 4
Entrance fee: 600 yen



- Tanimachi 4-chome station (Tanimachi Line) Exit 2
Tanimachi 4-chome station (Tanimachi Line or Chuo Line) Exit 2, 5 minutes walk (300 m.). Just go straight from the train station until you see NHK Building on right side.

Osaka Castle

Osaka Castle  is one of sightseeing spot in Osaka, Japan. Around castle is also popular for Hanami (Sakura / Cherry Blossom Viewing). Normally, Hanami in Osaka is around end March to early April of each year. There are Osaka Castle Park which is hugh park and has sport facilities.

Adult: 600 yen, Junior high school student & Under: Free of charge

Closed: Year-end and New Year (Dec. 28 - Jan. 1)


- 15-20 minutes walk from JR Morinomiya & Osakajokoen Sta.(exit No.1 and 3)

Temmabashi Station

Osaka Mint Bureau

Osaka Mint Bureau is one of popular cherry blossom viewing spot in Osaka. This area will be opened around mid April for cherry blossom viewing. It's free admission. During that time, there'll be Japanese food stalls. 

Japan Mint Museum: Opening Hours: 9:00 to 16:45 (entry until 16:00)

Matsuyamachi Station

Matsuyamachisuji Shopping Street

Matsuyamachi Suji is 500-600 m. shopping street (not long as other shopping streets) where has many wholesale stores. Mostly, the shops sell toys, dolls especially Japanese doll, candy and etc. 


Osakako Station

Tempozan Marketplace 

Tempozan Marketplace consists of restaurants, shops, entertainment and etc.

Opening Hours:
Shopping・Fast food・Naniwa Kuishinbo Yokocho 11:00 - 20:00
Restaurant 11:00 - 21:00


Tempozan Ferris Wheel

Opening Hours: 10:00-22:00 (Ticket sales: Until 21:30)
Fee: 800 yen

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is one of big and popular aquarium in Japan. 

Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
* Last admission is one hour before the closing time.
* The opening hours vary by season.

Admission Fee: 
Age Over 16: 2,300 yen
Age Over 60: 2,000 yen
Age 7-17: 1,200 yen
Age 4-6: 600 yen
Under 3:  Free

JR Universal City

Universal Studios Japan

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is theme park and located in Bay Area.
FYI, Why not use the name Universal Studios Osaka (USO)? The reason is USO in Japanese means lie.
Outside the theme park is Universal City Walk Osaka. It is the shopping mall, including the shops and restaurants.
Osaka Takoyaki Museum is also located in this area. I think it is not a museum but assemble the famous takoyaki shops.

Kadoma Minami Station

Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Tsurumi is near terminal station of Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi subway line. This outlet is smaller than Rinku Premium Outlets. Mostly, the visitors prefer to go to Rinku Premium Outlet because of the location. 


Opening Hours:
11:00-20:00 on weekdays; 
10:00-20:00 on weekends and national holidays
Restaurants are open until 21:00.

Yodoyabashi Station & Kitahama Station

Nakanoshima Rose Garden

Nakanoshima Rose Garden, the garden with many species and colorful roses.
The full bloom of rose is during early May-early June.

Rinku-Town Station

Rinku Premium Outlets 

Rinku Premium Outlets is large outlet in Osaka, Japan. The location is not far from Kansai Airport. 

Opening Hours:  10:00 a.m. - 08:00 p.m.
Closing Day: Once a year, on the third Thursday in February.
