Ryukyu Mura - Okinawa, Japan


Ryukyu Mura is a small theme mark where can experience Okinawan culture. You can also enjoy the workshop and other activities with your family or friends here. I will review the access by the bus in stead of driving the car.



Access

Take the monorail to Asahibashi Station, East exit
Walk to bus stop A14 and take the bus number 120.



Get off at Asahibashi Station, go straight and turn left follow the sign to bus stops 14.


This is bus stop no. 14. Bus stops in Okinawa have different styles. This bus stop is in front of Naha Bus Terminal. Take the bus no.120. Bus timetable, please click here. Go to Ryukyu Mura, choose for Nago Bus Terminal. When you return to Naha Bus Terminal, choose for Naha Bus Terminal. Timetable of weekdays and weekends are different. On the website has bus map

If you stay at the hotel near Kokusai Street, you can also get on the bus at "Makishi" bus stop.



Bus fare is 1,070 yen (one way) from Naha Bus Terminal. Get off "Ryukyu Mura Mae (琉球村前)" Bus Stop (1 hour and 15 minutes approximately). Bus stop is in front of Ryukyu Mura. Bus stop will be called in Japanese. If you are not sure when will arrive the destination, please look at the bus mapDon't forget the press the button before get off the bus.

Bus Pass

NAHA Bus & RYUKYU Bus KOTSU 1 Day Pass: 2,000 yen
On Sat, Sun & Holiday, you can take all bus lines operated by NAHA Bus & RYUKYU Bus KOTSU except No.111.

RYUKYU Bus KOTSU, OKINAWA Bus, TOYO Bus, NAHA Bus

Golden Week pass: 1,000 yen
Bus day pass: 2,000 yen

At Golden Week (May vacation) & at Bus Day (around 20 September), you can take the numbered bus (except 111) as you like with special pass for 2 or 3 days.

*Half fare for children (6 years old - 11 years old).

In case having OKICA (IC Card), use it touch the OKICA reader when boarding the bus and touch the OKICA reader again when get off the bus.
In case of paying by cash, take the ticket when boarding the bus. Pay the exact fare when get off the bus. There is change machine on the bus.   



Admission Fee: 

Adult (16 years old or over) 1,200 yen
Child (6 - 15 years old)  600 yen
5 years old and under: free

*Ryukyu Mura Discount Coupon

Adult 1,200 yen -> 1,080 yen
Child (5-15 years old) 600 yen -> 560 yen

Visit the website as the above link, category: click sightseeing. Then, choose Ryukyu Mura Village. You can choose other coupons that you like. Print all chosen coupon cut only Ryukyu Mura and show the coupon to staff. 

I printed the coupon and gave it to staff. She told me to press the button number 23 (in case having discount coupon) on ticket vending machine.

Steps buying  the ticket.
1. Insert the banknote or coins.
2. Choose the number of people and press the button.
3. When finish the process, choose おつり (change) on screen. 
4. Finish.

Opening Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (last entry 5 p.m.)
Summer time (July 1st - September 30th) : 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (last entry 5:30 p.m.)




You can enjoy the shows as below schedule

Eisa  (10 minutes):  09:00, 12:00, 14:00 
Okinawa Dances (10 minutes):  09:30, 10:45, 11:30, 12:30, 13:00, 13:30, 15:30, 16:45 
Michijyunee Parade (25 minutes):  10:00, 16:00, 17:00 
Shimauta Okinawan Song Live Performance (20 minutes):  11:00, 13:00, 15:00 


After purchasing the ticket, you can look around this area before going to the entrance. This area is free admission. There are souvenir shop and dining room. You can do small shopping and enjoy the workshop. Ryukyu Glass is popular in Okinawa. Glass is beautiful and of course, the price is high.



Rental Ryukyu Kimono



Show on stage. You can come back here again because it is near the exit gate.



This is the entrance. You need to buy the ticket first. Toilet is on the right side of the entrance. Show the ticket to staff. Shisa are on the both left and right side of the entrance.


Shisa is everywhere in different styles and shapes. Shisa is the guardian (lion-dog) of Okinawa. You can see various Ryukyu Old Folk House and participate in workshop (additional fee).




Before exit the Ryukyu Mura, there is another small shopping area.

Bus Stop to Naha Bus Terminal is in the opposite of Ryukyu Mura. 
Walk out of Ryukyu Mua, cross the road and turn right. Short walk to bus stop.

You may go to Mihama American Village on same day by taking the bus number 120. The bus stop is in front of Ryukyu Mura.
