One Day Trip in Copenhagen (Part 2) - Copenhagen, Denmark

Regarding the first part One Day Trip in Copenhagen, I will continue my 2nd part. Tour is 3 hours including bus and boat tour. Tour starts at 11:00 a.m. so I have free time in the morning. I went to Copenhagen City Hall and National Museum before went to sightseeing place with tour. Bus Tour is 2 hours approximately so make sure that you go to right departure point and time. Please arrive there at least prior 10-15 minutes.

Access

København H Station (Copenhagen Central Station)
The Departure point is near City Hall, in front of Palace Hotel.

I bought the tour from Viator "Panoramic Sightseeing and Canal Tour" which is different from Hop On, Hop Off Tour. The staff will take us to sightseeing places from departure point until finish the tour.

Itinerary

- View City Hall, the Tivoli Gardens, Gefion Fountain, Kongens Nytorv and Gammel Strand
- Make a stop at Amalienborg Palace and view the famous The Little Mermaid statue

There are only 2 stops which are Amalienborg Palace and The Little Mermaid statue. As the tour starts at 11:00 a.m., you may have lunch before going with tour or after finish the tour if you don't join boat or canal tour. The bus is as below photo.

See the view from the bus. The staff provides earphone for audio guided. You can select the language on your left or right side.

25 Minutes from Departure point to Little Mermaid Statue (Den lille Havfrue). There are about 10 minutes for photo taking here.

The Little Mermaid was a gift from Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen to the City of Copenhagen.
The sculpture is made of bronze and granite and was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale about a mermaid who gives up everything to be united with a young, handsome prince on land.

Every morning and evening she swims to the surface from the bottom of the sea and, perched on her rock in the water, she stares longingly towards the shore hoping to catch a glimpse of her beloved prince. (Ref: Visit Copenhagen)

View from the bus, The Gefion Fountain (Gefionspringvandet) is a large fountain on the harbour front.t features a large-scale group of animal figures being driven by the legendary Norse goddess, Gefjun.
It is located in Langelinie Park next to Kastellet and is the largest monument in Copenhagen and used as a wishing well. (Ref: Visit Copenhagen)

The 2nd stop is Amalienborg Palace. There is changing of the royal guard at 12:00 (noon) everyday. The staff take us from the bus stop to the Palace and back to the bus.

View from the bus: Nyhavn, Christiania, Tivoli Gardens

Nyhavn is new harbour where is famous sightseeing place in Copenhagen. It is canal, entertainment area and one of departure point for canal tour. The colorful houses are attractive.

Christiania is a mix of homemade houses, workshops, art galleries, music venues, cheap and organic eateries, and beautiful nature. For your own safety, visitors are advised not to film nor photograph in Christiania, especially not in the area in and around Pusher Street, mainly due to the hash dealing, which is illegal in Denmark. At the entrance you will find signs indicating 'do's and don'ts' in the area. We advice you to take them seriously and follow them for your own safety. (Ref: Visit Copenhagen)

Tivoli Gardens is amusement park, located near City Hall.

The 3rd stop is The Royal Danish Opera House

Bus tour spent 2 hours, finished around 13:00 so I had about 10-15 minutes before canal tour departed. Since I had not lunch yet, I ran to convenience store which is located near bus arrival point and bought some bread and drink. The departure point of canal tour is close to bus arrival point, short walk to Strøget shopping street. Bus tour has different departure and arrival point.

In my opinion the bus tour and canal tour does not have much different but canal tour has guide who explains the detail of each sightseeing place. The main sightseeing spots are the same so no need to buy both bus tour and canal tour like me. If you ask me which kind of tour I prefer, I think the bus tour is better because boat cannot approach some places.
