Places in Japan You Can Enjoy For Free

Sightseeing places in Japan has some entrance fee, discount with special pass or free entrace. Free entrance in sightseeing spots enable the tourist save the travel cost. I provide the list of sightseeing places with free entrance. However, during the pandemic please check the working hour and conditions on each website. 


Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park (Osaka)

Tsurumiryokuchi Expo '90 Commemorative Park or Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park is huge park and free admission. This park is located at the site of world exhibition in 1990. After the expo, it became the memorial park with various flower throughout the year.

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (Kyoto)

Arashiyama is a must visit place in Kyoto. Bamboo Grove is popular tourist destination, located in Arashiyama. There are other sigthseeing spots near Bamboo Grove such as Tenryuji Temple, Togetsukyo Bridge, Kimono Forest.

Yokohama Chocolate Factory & Museum (Yokohama)

Yokohama Chocolate Factory & Museum is Yokohama's largest chocolate factory and cafe. You can taste freshly-made chocolate, make your own chocolate and buy souvenirs. Free admission but the activities have extra charge.

Glico Museum

Glico, name of Japanese food company The company manufactures variety of products such as confectioneries (Pocky, Pretz, Caplico, Bisco, Glico), dairy products, ice cream and etc. if you are interest in factory visiting, you can do it for free. There are 3 factories open for general visitors; Glicopia Kobe (Hyogo), Glicopia East (Saitama), Glicopia Chiba.

Advance registration for factory tour is required. The visitors can view the production process of Pocky and PRETZ products, see the exhibition of Glico. You can also pay an extra fee for decorating your own pocky. Finally, you can buy souvenirs and receive small gift from Glico.

Sapporo Beer Museum (Hokkaido)

The Sapporo Beer Museum introduces the history of beer in Japan and the process of beer making. Free entrance but if you would like to try Hokkaido exclusive Sapporo Classic, the Sapporo Draft Kuro Label have an extra charge. The prices are on the website.

10 minute walk from Higashi-Kuyakusho-Mae Station on the Toho Subway Line.

Disembark from the JR Hakodate Main Line at Naebo Station; 8 minute walk from North Exit.

Cup Noodles Museum Osaka Ikeda (Osaka)

The Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum is an instant noodles museum located in Osaka. Momofuku Ando is name of creator and founder. I believe that most of you know "CUP NOODLES" brand. In Yokohama also has instant noodles museum named CUPNOODLES Museum but in Osaka is free admission.

Tottori Sand Dunes (Tottori)

Tottori Sand Dunes are located in Tottori. Sand Dunes are changed to white landscape in winter (around late December to February) because of snow. You can also try camel rides (additional charge).

Porto Europe in Wakayama Marina City (Wakayama)

Wakayama Marina City is an island resort, consists of Porto Europa Theme Park, Kuroshio Fish Market, Fruits Village and Onsen.

Porto Europa is theme park in Marina City. There are beautiful spots for photos. The amusement attractions have additional charge.
