Tainan One Day Trip, Taiwan

Tainan city is in southern Taiwan. You can travel by public transportation or rental car. I travelled to Tainan from Kaohsiung as one day trip by private car charter. You can choose Chinese speaker driver or English speaker driver. The price is different, English speaker driver is more expensive. You can choose company's itinerary and customize your own.

I reserved the car via Kook which depart from Kaohsiung to Tainan. Rented car for 9 hours.

Price

Group of 1-4 (Depart From Kaohsiung)

Chinese-Speaking Driver NT$ 4,000

English-Speaking Driver NT$ 4,500

I chose to book charter car because it was convenient. I went to Tainan with family. Four people were NT$ 1,125 for each. Alternatively, you can visit Tainan by public transportation. HSR from Zuoying station to HSR Tainan station takes 12-15 minutes and standard fare is  NT$140 or take local train but takes time about 30 minutes. Travel to attractions in Tainan by train or bus is not convenient like in Taipai or Kaohsiung so charter car is my best choice.

Company itinerary, you can choose one or customization.

Hayashi Department Store

Hayashi Department Store is the oldest department store in Tainan. You can walk 300 m. from Tainan Confucius Temple to Hayashi Department Store. There are 6 floors. Elevator is available but small. You can also walk. The design of products are unique and beautiful so the price is not cheap. If you like it, it worths to buy for yourself or souvenirs. The store opens 11.00 a.m. daily. Cafe is on the fifth floor and rooftop on the sixth floor respectively.

Anping Old Street

It took about 20 minutes from Hayashi Deparment Store. You can find street food. I saw prawn cracker selling in many shops. On that day, it was sunny and the weather was really hot.

Chikan Tower
