Travel from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei - Taiwan

Taipei Main Station is busy and major station where you can connect from airport to Taipei City and other cities. You can connect to other cities by Taiwan Railway Administation (TRA), Taiwan High Speed Rail (HSR) and Taipei Metro from this station.

Taoyuan Airport has 2 terminals so please make sure that you go to the right terminal when you go back to airport.

1. Taoyuan Airport MRT (Train): There are two types of trains, Express Train and Commuter Train. Fare is NT$150  (both express train and commuter train).

Express Trains stop only some stations (A1 Taipei Station, A3 New Taipei Industrial Park, A8 Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, A12 Airport Terminal 1, and A13 Airport Terminal 2) so it takes only 35 minutes while commuter Trains stop all stations so it takes 50 minutes.

If you have a lot of luggages and come with family, private transter is the most convenient. Taipei Main Station is big station. Walking from Airport MRT at Taipei Main Station to MRT Station (Red Line / Blue Line) is quite far.

I arrived Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1. After I picked up my luggage and arrived arrival hall, then turn right for lucky draw. Taiwan Lucky Draw is available until 30 June 2025. Lucky draw is for foreign independent travelers who hold foreign (non-ROC) passports, have stays in Taiwan of 3-90 days, are not members of tour groups, and are not applying for any group-related ROC travel incentives. Prizes are iPass, Easy Card, iCash and accommodation vouchers. If you travel to Taiwan, do not forget to register on website. When you finish registration, you will receive the email which has QR Code.

Telecommunication service is opposite Tourist Service Center. You can buy sim card here. I bought sim card from Thailand already so I went to MRT station. Moreover, you can buy sim card online via KKDay / Klook or use roaming.

I went to Taipei city by Taoyuan Airport MRT. Just follow the sign to MRT. Take escalator or elevator down. You can buy single journey ticket or use easy card. One way trip from airport to Taipei Main Station is NT$150. I bought easy card from ezyfly shop which is on the left side before entering to the station. Easycard cost NT$100 each, exclusive of a deposit and balance. You must top up the value, can do it at the machine. Easycard is available at convenience stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, OK Mart), information centers at Taipei/Taoyuan/Kaohsiung Metro stations, and the EasyCard Corporation Customer Service Center. There are many designs of easycard (keyrings, cards). Easycard is valid for 20 years. You can check the validity at the machine.
