(Review) Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel - Riga, Latvia

Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel is located in downtown area, not far from Riga Bus Station and attractions. Surrounding is quiet even located near the sightseeing places. I stayed here for 2 days. I paid 141.50 USD for 2 days with triple room (included breakfast). I got some discount from credit card. It's really worth as price is reasonable and good location, short walk to old town. Access

From AIRPORT
Take the bus #22 from airport. Get off at bus stop “11 Novembra krastmala”
Walk to the hotel approx. 5 min.

From FERRY Terminal
Walk and take the tram #5, #6, #7, #9. Get off at tram stop “Nacionālā Opera”
Walk to the hotel approx. 6 min.



From BUS Station
Upon arrival take a walk about 8 min through the Riga Old town to the hotel

From TRAIN Terminal
Upon arrival take a walk about 11 min

After I walked out from Riga Bus Station, I turn right. If you turn left, you will see Central Market. Go straight and pass the passage under the bridge, cross the road. You will see the river in the opposite side. Keep going straight until see the brown building on the right side. Turn right at Minsterejas iela Street. Short walk to hotel. Hotel will be on your right side. You can see the hotel flag. You can use other directions. I used this route because it's convenient for taking luggage to hotel.

The hotel style is not modern but warm and cozy. The room is clean daily. Tap water is undrinkable. Boiling water is a must as staff informed me. When check-in at the reception, staff asked for credit card to guarantee the mini bar. There is mini bar (snack and drinks) in the room.

Room is warm even outside was cold. Beds are comfortable. Small space in the room as there are 3 single beds (triple room) but enough to store the luggage and walk within the room. During the summer or nearly summer, the sky was not turn dark even it was 8 pm. already.

The bathroom is on the right side and the wardrobe and TV are on the left side. Sewing kit and the wet show tissues are in the wardrobe. Adequate space for putting the luggage.

Free tea (bags) with good design packaging and coffee.

Bathtub with shower. The towels are under the basin. Hairdryer and shower cap are in the bathroom

Breakfast

Taste was nice with variety of food and drinks. Seats are plenty. Rooms have both side and food area is in the middle.

If you want to find some restaurants, you may walk to old town or Origo department store which is close to Central train station. There are 3 floors and Rimi supermarket. I had dinner at one Asian restaurant "Gan Bei", 1st floor. Various menu with reasonable price. Menu i.e.fried rice, soup and etc. 

The shops open 10:00-21:00, Rimi Supermarket 07:00-24:00.
