Shopping Around Okayama Station

Okayama is not far from Osaka and Hiroshima. You can travel to Okayama by Shinkansen or bus. There are many interesting sightseeing places in Okayama. The sightseeing places which are not far from JR Okayama Station are Okayama Castle / Okayama Korakuen. These places can access by tram. Moreover, you can enjoy shopping around Okayama Station.

If you visit Okayama Station, please don't miss taking photo with Momotaro Statue which is located in front of the station. Momotaro is a story of a boy born from a peach and get rid of demons so you can see many peach souvenirs and goods.

Sunfesta Okayama is next to Okayama Station, East Gate. There are many restaurants at Sunfesta. One dish is around 800-1,000 yen. Okayama Station is the busy station so the restaurants are also busy. I had lunch here. One set of Chicken with rice and miso soup is 740 yen. It's delicious. If you don't like the busy atmosphere, I recommend food centre at Aeon Mall. I will talk later.

Okayama Ichibangai

After you get off Okayama Station, East gate, turn right and you will see the escalator down to the underground shopping area. This path also takes you to Aeon Mall. Okayama Ichibangai is the underground shopping area. Mostly, it's fashion products.

Aeon Mall Okayama is the large shopping mall. There are 9 floors including basement floors (B1 and B2). Takashimaya (souvenirs, desserts) is near the entrance on the 1st floor. The fashion clothes such as H&M, GAP, Zara is on the 2nd floor. Uniqlo and Tokyu Hands are on the 4th floor. There is food centre but I cannot remember the floor number.

Don Quijote or Donki is the big discount store and has many branches in Japan. The stores sell snacks, drinks, cosmetics, electronic products, bags, accessories and etc. Donki is tax free store. The tourists who purchase the goods over 5,000 yen (excluding tax) can get free tax. Price of products do not include tax so please be careful. Donki Okayama opens 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. The snacks are on the basement floor.

Matsumoto Kiyoshi is located near BIC Camera. It is popular drugstore in Japan. You can also check goods price on website.

Okayama Ekimae Shotengai is opposite with JR Okayama Station. You can Peach as symbol. This shopping street is next to BIC Camera and not a lively shopping street.

Daikoku Drug is near the entrance of this shopping street. The store not only sells drugs and cosmetics but also the snacks and 100 yen products.
