Travel Between Tokyo and Osaka - Japan

Tokyo and Osaka are mostly travel destination when tourists visit Japan. Tokyo is in Kanto region (East area) while Osaka is in Kansai region (West area). When tourists think of go shopping in Japan, Tokyo becomes their first choice. In fact, Osaka is also good for shopping. In my opinion, I like Osaka more than Tokyo because there are many popular dishes, people in Osaka have sense of humor, have more green zone i.e. park, garden and price of goods are reasonable.     




























Shinkansen

Many tourists prefer going to both Tokyo and Osaka. I recommend to take shinkansen as it is fast but the cost is high.

1. Shinkansen Nozomi (Tokyo Station - Shin-Osaka station) 150 minutes approximately
    - Unreserved Seat 13,620 yen
    - Reserved Seat 14,450 yen
    *Shinkansen Nozomi fare is not cover by JR Pass.

2. Shinkansen Hikari (Tokyo Station - Shin-Osaka station) 180 minutes approximately
    - Unreserved Seat 13,620 yen
    - Reserved Seat 14,140 yen
    *Shinkansen Hikari fare is cover by JR Pass and can reserve seat for free.

Shinkansen Kodama is available from Tokyo to Osaka but I don't recommend because this train has many stops so take more time.

FYI, If you take shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka and sit on the right side, you will see Mount Fuji. On the contrary, from Osaka to Tokyo, sit on the left side. When reserve the seat at the counter, you can inform staff. It also depends on the weather.

Bus

Please visit website Willer Express. Fare is half of taking shinkansen. Price on weekend is more expensive than weekday. There are day bus and night bus. These are example of timetable from Tokyo to Osaka. Taking night bus can save money on hotel.

Airplane

Taking on the plane, it is fast but don't forget to include the waiting time.
Flight duration is around 1.30 hrs. Low cost airline should be good candidate. Sometimes there are promotion on website. The photo below is the sample from Peach airline.
