Travel between Hiroshima and Osaka - Japan

Would you like to go to Hiroshima or Osaka? Hiroshima and Osaka are in Kansai region and have many popular sightseeing spots. I already posted about my Hiroshima trip but have not written how to travel between Hiroshima and Osaka yet.  If you stay at Osaka and would like to travel other prefectures near Osaka for one day trip, Hiroshima is good destination. Hiroshima has beautiful scenery and popular dishes. Here is sample of my itinerary. The below train timetable may be changed.  

Morning:            Miyajima
Afternoon:         Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park


08:07     JR Shin-Osaka Station: Hikari Shinkansen 
09:38     Arrive JR Hiroshima station 
09:50     Take JR Sanyo line for Iwakuni from JR Hiroshima station to JR Miyajimaguchi Station
10:18     Arrive JR Miyajimaguchi station (28 minutes)
10:40     Take ferry to Miyajima (departs every 15 minutes)
10:55     Arrive Miyajima
13:10     Take ferry back to JR station.
13:30     Take JR Sanyo line from JR Miyajimaguchi station to JR Nishi-Hiroshima station
              (20 minutes)
14:17     Take Hiroden to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park
14:35     Hiroshima Peace Memorial
15:40     Take Hiroden to JR Hiroshima station
16:17     Take Sakura Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka station
17:44     Arrive Shin-Osaka station

Access

By Train

From Shin-Osaka station / Hiroshima Station (4 options):

   1. Take shinkansen Nozomi (80 minutes). 
       Fare: Unreserved seat 9,710 yen, Reserved Seat 10,440 yen 
       *If you hold JR Pass, shinkansen Nozomi are not covered. 

   2. Take shinkansen Sakura (90 minutes).
       Fare: Unreserved seat 9,710 yen, Reserved Seat 10,230 yen

   3. Take shinkansen Hikari (105 minutes).
       Fare: Unreserved seat 9,710 yen, Reserved Seat 10,230 yen

   4. Take shinkansen Mizuho (83 minutes).
       Fare: Unreserved seat 9,710 yen, Reserved Seat 10,440 yen
       *If you hold JR Pass, shinkansen Nozomi are not covered. 

By Bus

Willer Express (One Way: Adult 4,590 - 5,300 yen, Child 2,550 - 2,750 yen)
Fare is cheaper than taking the train but take more time (almost 6 hours).
There is night bus and arrive at the destination in the morning.
