One Day Trip at Tennoji - Osaka, Japan


Tennoji is one of busy area in Osaka. Tennoji station is station where connect to Kansai Airport, Wakayama and Nara. There are hotels, shopping malls and sightseeing spots around this area such as Shitennoji Temple, Shinsekai, Tennoji Park, Tennoji Zoo. Tennoji Station is only 3 stations from Namba Station. During the high season, rooms rate around Namba are high and full so Tennoji area may be another alternative. The transportation is convenient and good for shopping.    



How to get there? 

From Kansai Airport

   1.1 Limited Express Haruka. Duration 35 minutes. 
         Fare: Unreserved Seat  1,710 yen, Reserved Seat 2,230 yen.

   1.2 JR Kansai Airport Rapid Service. Duration 55 minutes.
         Fare: 1,060 yen
  
   1.3 Nankai Airport Express for Namba to Shin-Imamiya Station (41 minutes, 920 yen)
         JR Shin-Imamiya Station, take JR Yamatoji Rapid Service (2 minutes, 120 yen)
         Total 48 minutes, 1,040 yen. 
   
   1.4 OCAT (Limousine Bus): Bus departs every 50 minutes at bus stop no. 7 (Terminal 1) and stop at Abeno Harukas (Tennoji Station). Fare is 1,000 yen (one way). Duration is 1 hour 10 minutes.

From Namba

       Midosuji Subway Line from Namba Station to Tennoji Station (240 yen, 7 minutes).
       JR Namba to JR Tennoji Station (160 yen, 7 minutes). 


From Nara

    JR Yamatoji Rapid Service for Osaka from Nara Station to Tennoji Station (470 yen, 35 minutes). 

From Wakayama

   Limited Express Kuroshio from Wakayama Station to Tennoji Station (43 minutes). Price: Unreserved Seat 1,830 yen, Reserved Seat 2,150 yen (Low Season) 



1. Shitennoji Temple

Shitennojimae Yuhigaoka station on the Tanimachi line, Exit 4



Shitennoji Temple is Buddhism temple and the oldest administered temple in Japan. Shitennoji Temple is not far from train station. You can see the outstanding five story pagoda. There are flea market during 21st-22nd of each month.

2. Abeno Q's Mall

Tennoji Station Subway Midosuji Line, exit no.12
JR Tennoji Station, South exit.

Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m.- 09:00 p.m.




Abeno Q's Mall is shopping mall which has supermarket, Uniqlo, GU, Big Camera, Ito Yokado, Tokyo Hands, ABC Craft and many small shops. If you come to this mall, I recommend to visit Ito Yokado, Tokyo Hands and ABC Craft (ABC ã‚¯ãƒ©ãƒ•ãƒˆ). First, Ito Yokado is member of the Seven & I Group, sells many product of 7-11 brand in their supermarket, clothes in mid price and special discount especially end of season. Second, Tokyo Hands is Japanese large department stores, especially sell stationery and DIY accessories. Third, ABC Craft. If you love handicraft, should not miss visiting ABC Craft where sells a lot of art and craft accessories. 

3. Tennoji Park

Access
Tennoji Station, Midosuji Subway line, exit no.5

Admission Fee: 150 yen
Opening Hours: 09:30-17:00



Tennoji Park is near subway station. When enter to this park, the atmosphere is good. It's transquil although the location is not far from shopping place. It is a botanical garden and has traditional garden (Keitakuen Garden). If you are tired after going shopping, can take a break at this park.

4. Tennoji Zoo

    Tennoji Zoo is close to Tennoji Park and Shinsekai.

Access
Dobutsuen-mae station, exit no.1 of (Midosuji or Sakaisuji subway lines).

5. Shinsekai

   

Access
1. Ebisucho station (Sakaisuji Subway Line) Exit 3, walk 3 minutes -> Recommend
2. Dobutsuen-mae station (Midosuji and Sakaisuji Subway Lines) Exit 5, walk 10 minutes
3. JR Shin-Imamiya station, East Exit, walk 10 minutes.

*Can walk from Tennoji Zoo, it is very close.

Shinsekai means New World but the atmostphere seems old town. 

Tsutentaku tower is the landmark here. You can buy the ticket 700 yen and see the view from the top of tower. Shinsekai is shopping arcade. There are many stores and restaurants, including souvenir shops.
